1. License Grant

While your account is in good standing, Fluentessa grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to access and read the bilingual editions available to your plan, within the Fluentessa reader, for your own private, non-commercial language learning. Free-tier content is available to any signed-in account; the rest of the catalog requires an active subscription.

2. What This License Covers

This license covers the English translations, the inline annotations, and the alignment and presentation of each bilingual edition — the content the Service produces. It does not grant you any rights in the underlying original text beyond those the public domain already provides, and it does not transfer ownership of anything to you. The translations and annotations are AI-generated content, licensed to you under these terms, not sold.

3. The Original Works

The original literary works in our catalog are in the public domain, or are otherwise works we are permitted to use. Fluentessa claims no ownership of those underlying texts. We do claim the translations, annotations, and the bilingual edition we create from each work, as described in the Terms of Service.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

  • Redistribute, share, publicly post, or otherwise make a bilingual edition or its annotations available to anyone else
  • Resell or sublicense the editions, translations, or annotations
  • Scrape, bulk-download, copy, or systematically extract the content by automated or manual means
  • Circumvent or interfere with access controls, paywalls, or other technical measures
  • Use the content for any commercial purpose, or to build or train a competing product or dataset
  • Claim authorship of the AI-generated translations or annotations

5. Termination

This license lasts as long as you comply with its terms and maintain the account access that your plan requires. Premium content stays available while your subscription is active; if your subscription ends, that content becomes unavailable, though you keep access to free-tier content. If you violate any restriction above — including unauthorized redistribution — this license terminates automatically, and you must stop accessing the content and delete any copies you have made.
